At Virtue Vets, we can complete emergency pet travel documentation within one working day, subject to your pet meeting the required travel regulations.

What to Expect
1. Get in touch and confirm your requirements
Our Official Veterinarians will confirm exactly which certificates and vaccinations your trip requires, based on your destination and your pet's travel history.
2. Health check and documentation
A full health check, confirmation of your pet's microchip and vaccination status and completion of the relevant certificate.
3. Rabies vaccination, where required
If your destination requires it, allow 21 days after the course before travelling. We'll build this into your timeline from the outset.
4. Travel with confidence
Once your dog or cat's paperwork is complete, you can travel knowing they meet the requirements for a smooth journey and entry at your destination.
Pet Travel Services & Prices

Official documentation required for non-commercial travel of dogs, cats and ferrets from the UK to the EU, confirming microchipping, rabies vaccination, and health status. Valid for one trip with a return within 4 months, and must be issued within 10 days of departure.

An official document verifying your pet's vaccination and health status against your destination country's entry requirements, which vary by region. We recommend starting this process well ahead of travel.
Please note that full payment is required at the time of booking for all export appointments.

A health check confirming your pet is fit to travel by air. It covers heart, respiratory and general fitness for the physical stress of flying, alongside reviewing vaccination and microchip records.

A vaccine that protects against the rabies virus, which is fatal once symptoms appear. It's required for most international pet travel, with a 21-day wait after vaccination before you can travel.
Please note that emergency bookings or amendments made with less than 24 hours' notice will incur an urgent booking fee. We'll confirm the total cost with you before you book, so there are no surprises.

EU pet passports issued in the UK are no longer valid for travel to the EU. GB residents now need an Animal Health Certificate (AHC) for each trip, confirming your pet's microchip, rabies vaccination and health status.

As early as possible, ideally several weeks before you travel. If your pet needs a rabies vaccination, most destinations require a 21-day wait afterwards before they can travel, so leaving this until the last minute is the most common reason a trip gets delayed.

An AHC covers non-commercial travel from the UK to the EU. It's valid for one trip, with a return within 4 months. An EHC is used for travel further afield, confirming your pet meets your destination country's health requirements. Tell us where you're headed and we'll confirm which one you need.

Not for EU travel, but some non-EU countries require a blood test after vaccination, sometimes months in advance. Share your destination, and we'll tell you if a blood test applies.
